about

I am Valerie, mother of two young humans who I am raising in south central Pennsylvania. I am a lifelong maker and general enthusiast, with a soft spot for photography and sewing. Lately, I am also a self-styled educator, embarking on (and yes, at the two six year update, it does still feel like the beginning) the journey of homeschooling. Oh, and gardening. Gardening too.

The title for this blog comes from my daughter, who, when she was beginning to string words together into sentences, would refer to “today” as “inday.” This was so adorable* to us that we all began using “inday,” to such excess that it became a suffix, i.e., “nursing” became “nursinday.” “In the day today” then became the exaggerated long form. I hope to refrain from posting exaggerated long form here, but I make no promises.

*Please no commentary on the mistake of viewing children as adorable. Children are adorable. We can respect them and treat them as fellow human beings and also find them hopelessly adorable. For what it’s worth, I probably find you adorable, too.

Related to the above, if inclined toward commentary, please be generous and kind.
